i tried in vain to get a proper historic profile together of Irish skateboard history. Here's a few pics folk from all over the land sent, stuff from as far back as '78!! Post whatever old scans you can here and we'll see what comes of it. there's a few tasters below, I will add more in the next while cheers
1978 downhill skateboard championships, Coleraine. Downhill comp across a flat tennis court, only in ireland. they also had a mini bowl built for the event, you can see in the background. photo sent by Stevie Browne
Friend of jeremy donaldson - christ air transfer bowl to bowl at Portglenone - what a gnarler!!!!
Overview of ancient Enniskillen park. last i saw of it was about 1993
MDF midi ramp at Antrim. steve barrows wonderland served as the only decent ramp in the land for a whole era. Judging from the Deathbox trio in the foreground I'd say 1991. ps spot the Tony Graham and win a brown cardigan
cheers to rodge, shaggy, stevie browne, jeremy donaldson, steve crawford etc etc who sent stuff.
The Death box trio, ha ha ha !!! Bet they are wearing Airwalk Velocities or Vision DV8's, Is that a Sean Goff graphic in the middle or Pete Dosset ? great bit of History there, there must be loads of shots floating around from the squeeze comp in the point depot?? I have the programme I'll scan it. I have some other bits and pieces from years ago I'll root them out.
Howya lads..Flatop here..Im a Dubliner by birth but now live in florida,U.S.A...I started skating December 1976!! when I got my first board as a Christmas present. I still skate at the ripe old age of 42... I have a bunch of photos from the late 70's and early 80's of our skate scene in Ireland..I just need to dig them out and scan them.. Here's a few.. Jay Kelly in the skate shop in Wicklow, can anyone name the vid on the TV ? Some sweet decks on the wall there aswell, Jay Kelly used to rip in the top hat comps

The deck to the top right (eye ball graphic) is a Rob Roskopp.
I'd love to see some old pics of Hamiltons in Cookstown circa '90. That shop was loaded fully loaded with product back then. Classic Cruz, World, Peralta decks splattered everywhere!
A mint Vallely Barnyard would fetch $1000 + nowadays on ebay .... NUTS ! www.artofskateboarding.com is a great site for finding all the old decks you used to ride, my all time favourite board was a New Deal Justin Gerrard, thunders and real small wheels, loved it http://www.artofskateboarding.com/Pg/aos_pg_detail.asp?prod_id=1208
the soundtrack on that vid was amazing .. julian stranger skating in the clip too

But look closer. My cousin is in the background holding my other board..
"http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g251/keogh557/vintage%20photos/Dogtown-ShogoKubo.jpg Speaking of board values, the board my cousin is holding is a "Dogtown -Shogo Kubo "which I purchased in 1978 and I didnt really skate it that much because it had no concave at all and concave was the new thing in 1979.As a result I switched decks before the Dogtown was worn out..Just as well because this deck is the Holy Grail for Deck collectors and regularly sells on ebay for more than $4000...I've even seen one go for $5300..Fucking mad...Check this link from Skate and Annoy... http://www.skateandannoy.com/features/ebay/2007/ebay049/
But the good news is....This board has been in storage in my parents attic back in Dublin for the past 28 years!
good stuff. my old boss in the US has the original versoin of that Natas devil worship board -it was supposed to be the Jason Lee 'devil worship' board. apparently jason lee chickened out after he seen the sample prints fearing they'd bring some kinda bad luck his way, Natas said 'fuck it stick my name on it'.
also - that place i worked screened all those early classic World Industries boards - up in the attic they had all the old screen prints of them lying in old boxes; i use to dust off some serious history up there. Old Blind 101 and World graphics just lying there gathering dust - so good
J Kelly and some of the wicklow gang from the local paper, nice ollie flap
Aul doc Hollywood in the vison top can still be seen carvin around the Gorey bowl, as can Glen the kid to his right JahErie you met these guys in Gorey a few weeks ago
Rad thread Mr. Dords. I'll have to delve back into the archives and look for some stuff. I seem to remember a particularly good photo of Shaggy doing a Grossman on my old ramp, with his sack hanging out...
Shaggy, smith. Dig the threads - Chumbawamba T, dodgy surf shirts, Hawaiian airwalks and, for you historians out there, a genuine Davie North manufactured deck (made from beech, if memory serves)
