yes it will have lights, thats funny you should mention it , thats one of the things holding us up. The lumination regulations and the cars passing by will they be ok and not to distracted and how many are required. We budgeted for 11 but now we are told due to standards we need 14/15 an extra 10k that has to be found within the budget.....just one of the smaller issues we have had to encounter on this journey.
um..well ...where to begin... BCC(Belfast City Council), are letting the side down guys... they haven't got stuff done that should have been done, and when they are doing stuff they are dragging their heals...nothing we can do... freestyle are not to blame, BUS are not to blame, Council being the council is so slow to do stuff... should have some sort of timeline together by the end of next week( a real one this time) as to when proper movement on the park and digging starts...
P.S obviously this means the park wont open till April 2010... (3month build, 1 month cure)
i hate it when i cant remember lyrics right - wouldve been a bad joke anyway. the fact we're getting a skate park is amazing, and if it was ready in January or February the weather would be so bad it wouldnt be much fun waiting for the good days. april has more chance of a great weekend of weather to wet the baby's head!! and more hours of daylight too!
Not havin a go at bus or pope like Beads, cus without them park wouldn't be happening, just delay after delay. Council needs to take note from down south, they seem to have a better grasp on the whole thing.
Well Bushy was originally ment to be build around 2002 or something like that, but cause the council are retarded and all that shit, it ended up being like 2006, bit shit. Hope the upnorth council sorts there shit out!
peeps are right council does need to sort its act out, but thats like trying to changes the flow of the tides(or some other old adage, of equal emphasis on how hard something is, insert here"..."), april is a better opening date, the park is still getting built, its going to be amazing, theres somewhere indoor to skate in the meantine, so still a lot of stuff to keep positive about... hang in there peeps..
BUS will be around for the future, coaching programs, Service level agreement fo the outdoor park, constituting other groups, advising councils in other areas... Plus we are working on something to try and keep unit13 going when the outdoor is here aswell, but its very very thin at the moment...
no the bridge doesnt provide shelter, the bridge is 40 feet up and the park is exposed from the sides, if it rains the park will get wet...unless it rains straight down with no wind then suppose the width of the bridge curving through the park would stay dry, but thats unlikely...
hi pope, so wondering what the situation is, it all seems rather murky. I was wondering what this situation is as of yet. Has the work been contracted out is there a project timeline etc
The work is contracted out, and there is no point of a time line becasue the 500 times we have done one is just gets blown out of the water by something left field that needs to be taken care of first before we can move forward. But all is in hand digging will start in a few weeks i have been told on thursday past. The only reason im not passing this info on to everyone is something always postpones it, so im waiting until i know for sure the day before the equipement and the likes are on site.
fuck i went past the bridge the other day and them invisible hips and grind boxes look so sick, i woulda skated them but it was frozen under 10 foot of dee corr's piss fuck i wish the counsil would fucking sort it out !!! keep the good work up popé, it will be reality soon!
Um... the council, because they have never built a skatepark before are doing it by the numbers. So that in claim city(Belfast) there is no come back on them. This is so that no hot shot solicitor can find a loop hole like the lighting of the park blinded a driver, this gate is 2 inches too short and trapped my son's foot, the space of the fencing is too wide and my kids arm was broke because of it... the list goes on and on... anyways you can’t blame them, I in their position wouldn’t want some knacker getting thousands for nowt either. So although everything is in place and freestyle are waiting for the green light, the council a scrutinising everything and keep coming back to freestyle for more specs and engineering drawings and small changes. Now small changes take a week for freestyle and then 2 - 3 weeks once it goes in the black hole that is the planning division within the council. Therein lays the problem, that’s a month for a small change to be vetoed. So found out today that there are a few small changes to be done all at once, so that’s a month till they are crossed off the list. That’s the way it is at the moment, dealing with small changes until there is none left, and the council are happy. But I have been told by the council that we must be very close to a go now that most of the small changes have been made over the last 7 months. You now know as much as I do. So we are looking at a month of paper work changing hands then it’s another review for a green light. But its close, just have to be patient, its just the way it is unfortunately.
ok quick update, planning dept are happy (thank god or any other deity), so all is back on track and project is moving back up to full speed. We are back to a 2 - 4 weeks window of sorting shit out after it being held up, getting everything and everyone into place, contractors,Council, Waterni,DRD,NIE..etc... so thats something to be happy about today!! But if you do the maths this pushes the project further out of the timeline for the summer. So say all being well digging starts 4 weeks from now, we are looking at the start of August for the opening...
well it was good news, we a get a dig date in 3 weeks time..some stuff to sort out first which is why its 3 weeks till we get a break ground date.
the foam pit thing is a project that Matt from BUS has invested his time and efforts into. For future investment into the sports(we know they are not sports per say but for the sake of talking to suits,it's what they are regarded as) we have to be seen to progress the sport. What better way than to get a practice foam pit, so the kids can flip and spin till their hearts content without wrecking themselves too much. Foam pit is more for bmx'ing development than skating.
